Our Quality Promise
A promise you can taste
A promise you can taste
Every day, trust in the quality of our honeys is at the heart of everything we do. We approach this responsibility with the utmost diligence. In Bargteheide, near Hamburg, we utilise state-of-the-art technology and our many years of experience to analyse our honeys before they are bottled. In this way, we ensure that every honey fulfils our high standards of purity, flavour and consistent quality.
Langnese honeys are pure natural products: They enter the jar exactly as the bees created them. This is a guarantee we have upheld for 100 summers.
Langnese honeys are pure natural products – exactly as stipulated by the German Honey Ordinance. We are deeply committed to complying with this ordinance: consequently, nothing is added to or removed from Langnese honeys. Our products are completely pure and natural.
We source our honeys exclusively from the finest regions of origin in Europe, North, Central and South America, and New Zealand. All our partners fulfil our strictly monitored German quality standards. We select our regions of origin with the utmost diligence in order to ensure that they satisfy our stringent requirements at all times.
Our honey is extracted using exclusively cold centrifugation. It is subsequently bottled at a maximum temperature of 36 °C – a temperature that corresponds to the natural warmth inside a beehive – in order to preserve its valuable nutrients for you.
Prior to bottling, the honey passes through a number of sieves in order to gently remove natural impurities such as wax particles. Our sieves are designed to ensure that the valuable pollen in the honey is retained.
Langnese honey is bottled exclusively in Germany, in Bargteheide. We ensure that the storage time between bottling and retail sale is kept to an absolute minimum, thereby constantly guaranteeing you fresh, top-quality honey.
Please note: As a raw-food product, honey is not suitable for infants under 12 months of age.
Our diligent quality controls begin in the country of origin: Even before the honey is loaded for transport, we ensure that 100 per cent of it is sampled and subsequently tested for authenticity by independent, accredited laboratories.
Upon arrival in Bargteheide, a sample is again taken from each batch of honey and analysed in our in-house laboratory. In addition, the samples are tested for purity and authenticity by independent laboratories.
During bottling, samples are once again taken for further thorough analysis in order to carry out a final quality check on the honey.
Every honey is fully traceable thanks to its quality control number and best-before date on the label.
For our honey blends, we utilise exclusively raw honey from the finest regions of origin. The long-standing relationships with our beekeepers guarantee a consistently high quality and the characteristic delicious Langnese flavour.
In order to ensure its flavour quality and purity, every honey is tasted, tested and classified in accordance with defined parameters by experts trained in sensory analysis. They carefully blend the honeys before bottling in order to create a consistent taste experience for you. In this way, we guarantee consistently high quality and a constantly good flavour, year after year – irrespective of the season.
Organic beekeeping is a particularly sustainable form of beekeeping that combines ecological standards with a respectful approach to the bees and their natural environment. Organically produced honey must fulfil specific requirements: only beehives made from natural materials, such as wood or straw, may be used in beekeeping. They are situated in natural landscapes or on organically farmed fields. Furthermore, the bees are provided with their own honey as food during the winter. All of these requirements are verified and guaranteed by organic inspection bodies.
We also offer Fairtrade honeys, through which we specifically support beekeepers in economically disadvantaged regions of South America. These honeys guarantee fair trading conditions and fixed prices, which are particularly beneficial to the beekeepers’ livelihoods. In addition, they ensure healthy and socially responsible working conditions.
Furthermore, our packaging is recyclable. Our jars are comprised of up to 65% recycled glass, and our dispensers contain at least 50% recyclate. For labels and cardboard boxes, we use solely FSC-certified paper.
You can reach us personally at any time via this website and our customer service team. Should a product ever fail to meet your expectations despite our strict quality controls, we will, of course, replace it – because your satisfaction is what matters most to us.
„Trust is built on diligence. Which is why we test every batch of honey three times. By doing so, we ensure that you can rely on the purity and authentic flavour of your Langnese honey – day after day.“
